Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is one of Uganda’s most remarkable protected areas and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its steep forested hills protect almost half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas, together with rich birdlife, butterflies, forest elephants and rare plant species.
For many travellers, gorilla trekking in Bwindi becomes the emotional highlight of a Uganda safari. The experience is not staged or predictable. You enter a living rainforest with experienced rangers and trackers, follow signs of the gorilla family’s movement, and spend a quiet hour observing them once located.
Bwindi also rewards travellers who stay longer. Beyond the gorillas, the park offers forest walks, birding, waterfalls, cultural encounters and dramatic views over south-western Uganda’s highlands.

Best time to visit

Bwindi can be visited throughout the year. The drier months from June to September and December to February are often preferred because forest trails are usually easier to manage, but the rainforest remains lush and changeable in every season.
