Safari Overview – 7 Days/ 6 Nights

This safari takes you to Acholi Land and Kidepo Valley National Park commonly known for its savannah and wilderness. Kidepo National Park is far placed – northeast of Uganda, bordering Kenya to the east and South Sudan to the North. The trip offers the perfect African safari experience of adventure of Scenic drives, Nature Walks, Authentic cultural encounters and a visit to Africa’s most scenic wildlife parks.

Day 1: Transfer from Kampala to Kitgum


The first day of your Kidepo culture and wildlife safari is basically for travelling. Considering the journey requires about 6 hours and 13 minutes. Ganyana Safari driver will pick you from Entebbe/Kampala at 7:00 am and make an early start on your journey to Kitgum. You will have stopovers along the way to enjoy a fruit or snack and stretch out. Lunch will be in Gulu town and reach Kitgum in the afternoon.

Day 2: Visit the Acholi people and Encounter their Culture


After breakfast, we will transfer you to Acholi land and meet the Acholi a Nilotic Luo-speaking ethnic group. They were skilled hunters, using nets and spears, and kept goats, sheep and cattle. In war they used spears and long, narrow shields of giraffe or ox hide. Spend the day with them experiencing their culture, traditional dance known as the Lakalaka and many more.

Day 3: Transfer to Karamoja


In the morning after breakfast, you will be transferred to Karamoja and experience the village life. You will clad in Karimojong culture. The afternoon is spent participating traditional games, daily activities as preparing staple foods, harvesting, beading, learning, dance, how to shoot bow and arrow and traditional friendly wrestling. Experience typical Karimojong pastoral life by sleeping a night with the animals and shepherds in the Kraal. Help bringing the cows to the kraal, share stories around the campfire, play games with the warriors and learn how all about nomadic life.

Day 4: Karamojong Manyatta Visit and Transfer to Kidepo Valley National Park


Manyatta are known as Karamojong villages located near kidepo valley national park. This morning you will pay a visit to the karamojongs, you will meet them a proud and fierce group of semi nomadic pastoralists with a rich cultural heritage. Enjoy the cultural dances and the singing, a visit to a Manyatta is not complete without music and dance, do join in and jump as high as you can to the music.

Day 5: Full day Game drives in Kidepo Valley National Park


We shall have game drive the whole of the fifth day of our Safari. You will enjoy breakfast as you admire the true wilderness and an out of the world experience! When breakfast is done, you will set out for a rewarding game drive through the open savannah, rocky outcrops, forests and rings of mountains. Drive extensively up to Kanangorok Hot Springs and brace yourself for photo opportunities and chances of catching sight of more wildlife especially lions sitting on the rocks as they scan the park for possible prey. Drive back to the lodge to relax and have lunch. In the afternoon, head out for another game drive in this true wilderness; no game drive is the same in Kidepo. Every day presents a different sight do you can expect to increase your game count. Return to the lodge for overnight and dinner.

Day 6: Transfer back to Entebbe


After breakfast, you will drive from Kidepo Valley National Park to Entebbe with an en- route game drive through the northern section of the park popularly known as Para where you will have chances of spotting many mammals, big cats hunting and a lot of bird’s species. You will arrive in Entebbe late in the evening dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 7: Free Time at the Hotel and Transfer to the Airport your outbound flight


After breakfast, spend some time at the hotel or you can have a walk within Entebbe and later the driver will transfer you to the Airport for your flight back home.
