Day 1: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park, Bigodi Wetland Eco Walk

After an early morning breakfast, drive to Kibale forest National park commonly known as the primate capital of the world and one of East Africa’s major tropical rain forest. You drive through papyrus swamps and the thick jungle of the Nile Delta; the drive is about 8-9 hours. Check in your lodge and relax.

In the afternoon visit the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary for a nature walk, rich in biodiversity and beautiful scenery, the wetland is a birder’s paradise with about 138 species hosting eight species of primates including the black-and-white colobus, grey-cheeked mangabey, red-tailed, l’Hoest’s and blue monkeys, and olive baboons. Later you can enjoy a walk to the “top of the world” along crater lakes which this area is also famous for crater lakes view and the mountain of the moon.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking

After an early breakfast, head to Kibale Forest Headquarters and get a briefing on the day’s activity. With a ranger guide, you will venture into the jungle in search of the chimpanzees and while tracking, you will be able to spot different animal species like the Red Colobus, Black and white Colobus, Grey-cheeked Mangabey, Olive Baboon, Red-tailed Monkey, and L’Hoest’s Monkey among others and different bird species. You will spend one hour with the chimpanzees as you watch them play, feed and groom each other.  Retire to your booked accommodation for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Transfer to Bwindi Forest via Ishasha

You will exit Kibale forest National Park passing Queen Elizabeth national park through the Ishasha Plains in the southern sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park for another epic game drive. Ishasha is famous for its iconic tree-climbing lions that climb trees to catch the cool breezes. After your game drive, you will leave Queen Elizabeth National Park and head to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Arriving late afternoon, retire to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

With an early breakfast and a packed lunch, you will be transferred to the Uganda Wildlife Authority park headquarters where you’ll be briefed on the gorilla tracking which begins at 8:00 am. You will then be guided into the jungle to track the shy primates. The trek length varies depending on where the gorillas spent the night, ranging from 30 minutes to 7 hours, once you find the gorilla family, you will spend one hour with them, observing them feed, socialize and display their prowess.
