31 July 2026, Buganda Kingdom proudly marks the 33rd Coronation Anniversary of Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II, who ascended the throne on 31 July 1993 as the 36th Kabaka of Buganda. The day celebrates more than three decades of dedicated leadership, cultural preservation, and efforts to unite and uplift the people of Buganda.
This year’s celebrations are held under the theme, “Fortitude as We Preserve Our Heritage,” encouraging Baganda to remain steadfast in protecting their culture, traditions, and values for future generations. The main thanksgiving service is taking place at Watoto Church, Bweyogerere, bringing together kingdom officials, religious leaders, and thousands of well-wishers to honour the Kabaka’s enduring legacy.
